How We Got Here
🌲 The San Bernardino National Forest has decades of volunteer stewardship behind it. Since the early 2000s, off-highway vehicle clubs, outdoor groups, and individual volunteers have helped maintain roads and trails through the Forest Service Adopt-A-Trail program.
🐿️ As the volunteer community continued to grow, so did the need for better coordination, clearer communication, and stronger support for the people and clubs doing the work on the ground. The Southern California Trail Adoption Initiative was created to help meet that need.
🐻 SCTAI supports the Adopt-A-Trail community by helping connect volunteers, clubs, donors, and agency partners. Our role is not to replace the Forest Service program, but to strengthen the volunteer network around it so that trail stewardship is easier to organize, easier to support, and easier to sustain over time.
🦨 Today, SCTAI serves as a public-facing nonprofit partner focused on helping volunteers care for the roads and trails they use. We believe responsible access depends on organized stewardship, and that the best trail systems are supported by the people who know them, use them, and are willing to give back.
